One of the most exciting things about being a local foodie is that you get to experience incredible cuisine right on your doorstep. From small, intimate restaurants, to high-end, internationally renowned establishments, there is no shortage of options to satisfy your palate. Now, with AQSC’s first-ever US-based culinary experience, we are taking you on a culinary journey around the corner of the country.

If you’re looking to expand your culinary horizons, you can’t do much better than the United States. Not only is it the land of the free, it’s also home of some of the most beautiful cities in the world, as well as some of the best—and most delicious—food you’ll find anywhere.

Travel is back and more enjoyable than ever with the American Queen Steamboat Company (AQSC).

The cruise line is returning to America’s rivers, and in 2024 guests will have even more choice with American Culinary Experience cruises.

Passengers aboard the American Countess will enjoy signature dishes prepared by culinary innovators in the industry. The nine-day trip from Memphis to Louisville includes stops in Madison, Indiana; Brandenburg, Kentucky; and New Madrid, Missouri.

The trip begins with a hotel night in Louisville before the cruise begins. During the day and evening, guests are free to explore the city on their own, receiving tips from AQSC and local representatives on where to visit, see and eat.

The American Countess left the next day. Guests will have time to explore the quirky side of the city, discover local traditions and learn more about derby hats, old-fashioned cocktails and the 120-foot Louisville Slugger that overlooks the city from
.

Our third day is spent in Madison, Indiana, a quaint river town located between Louisville and Cincinnati. Guests will discover the city’s hidden treasures, including the 130-block historic district, the
Lanier Mansion state historic site, and the quaint shopping streets of downtown.

The American Countess then travels to Brandenburg, Kentucky, where a fourth day is dedicated to learning the tradition of bourbon making, set against the backdrop of a picturesque farm.

The next day we headed to Owensboro, Kentucky for bourbon, botanical gardens and blue grass.

In Henderson, Kentucky, passengers visit the home of James Audubon and W.C. Handy and tour the warm and welcoming village before continuing on to Paducah, Kentucky, and New Madrid, Missouri, known for its seismic history and the Battle of Ten Island in the Civil War.

The ship then sails to Memphis, where the journey ends. Guests can opt for additional premium experiences after the cruise to further immerse themselves in local culture and cuisine.
