Carnival Cruise Line is bringing Mardi Gras to the high seas for the first time ever with the inaugural Mardi Gras, Latin American Style, a New Orleans Mardi Gras inspired menu and theme for Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Victory. The ship is set to depart for a five-night cruise in late April (weather permitting) and will sail to the Eastern Caribbean on April 23.

Carnival Cruise Line has announced a new Mardi Gras-themed restaurant, called Chibang! The restaurant and bar will be located on Deck 5 and is set to open in the fall of 2016, and offers a casual setting for guests to enjoy Mardi Gras New Orleans-inspired cuisine and drinks while celebrating Carnival’s culture of inclusion. The menu will feature authentic New Orleans dishes such as jambalaya, gumbo, and muffaletta and signature drinks like a “VooDoo” that will be served in a mason jar with a black top hat. Guests can also choose from a variety of Carnival-inspired dishes, including shrimp and grits, shrimp and catfish po’ boy, and

Carnival Cruise Line, a major cruise line that offers cruises from Florida to the Caribbean, has announced that it will open a new Mardi Gras themed eatery on board the Carnival Splendor. The eatery will feature a variety of New Orleans-style dishes, along with food and drink specials that all visitors will enjoy. Carnival Splendor cruises will depart from Miami, Florida, and will include stops in the Caribbean, the United States and Mexico, beginning in June, 2013.

As the countdown to Mardi Gras continues, Carnival Cruise Line has revealed information about Chibang! another new restaurant on the line. In addition, with the launch of the line’s new flagship, a number of popular amenities that normally require a surcharge will be included in the cruise price.

What we know about Chibang!

What makes this latest event special in the ship’s already impressive culinary offerings? Chibang! Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu features Mexican and Chinese dishes. Think of it as a two-for-one lunch.

Named after the Mandarin word for wing, Chibang! will feature two menus, each with a wide variety of authentic Chinese and Mexican dishes. Translation: If half your guests want a quesadilla and the other half want kung pao chicken, this joint can help.

Main courses range from Singapore chili shrimp and kung pao chicken on the Chinese side to pollo en mole and camarones diablo on the Mexican menu. Both restaurants also offer a variety of side dishes and desserts. And of course, guests are free to mix and match as they please.

As for the venue itself, Chibang! will be decorated in rich red and green hues with gold accents, meant to pay homage to both cultures on the menu. To complete the spectacle, the restaurant will have floor-to-ceiling windows running the length of the space, offering breathtaking views. Oh, did we mention that they are greeted at the entrance by a colorful (and photogenic) dragon?

Like many other Mardi Gras establishments, you’ll find several signature cocktails at Chibang! Including the Chibang! Margarita (with blood orange syrup), Smoky Mezcal Negroni and Green Tea Martini.

More food for less money

In addition, for a limited time, Chibang!, Guy’s Pig & Anchor Smokehouse/Brewhouse and Cucina del Capitano – whose dinner must be paid for normally – are included in the cruise.

Mardi Gras is such a great ship that we wanted to offer our guests a limited opportunity to enjoy some of the most popular new specialty restaurants for free, said Cyrus Marfatia, Carnival vice president of food and dining.
