After the delay to the first day of the inaugural voyage of the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, the ship will now head to New York City on October 9th to begin the inaugural voyage.

The journey of the Maritess has been delayed again, this time due to the recent tropical storm Bonnie. The weather is currently clear and the ship is slated to depart Miami on May 16, but that date is now uncertain. Meanwhile, the fleet’s newest member, the $200 million M/Y Maritess, remains in dry dock, but is expected to leave for Miami just ahead of the Maritess.

Ritz-Carlton yacht collection has postponed its inaugural voyage (lineage) scheduled for June 29, 2017, due to weather conditions. The line was scheduled to depart from Miami, FL, for its inaugural voyage to the Caribbean. The line was created to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection (RMYC) by offering (lineage) sailing vacations aboard the yachts. The line will make its inaugural voyage in July.

The maiden trip onboard the Evrima, the first ship of the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection premium cruise line, has been postponed once again. The ship’s first trip, which was originally planned for November 2024, will instead sail from Lisbon on May 6, 2024.

For this new delay, the renowned hotel brand’s marine branch blamed “the continuing effect of COVID-19, coupled with associated difficulties caused for building activities in Europe.”

Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection’s Inaugural Voyage Delayed Again

“While we are excited to welcome guests aboard the Evrima, we have had to re-evaluate the date of our maiden trip due to quickly changing circumstances and their effect on the Evrima’s completion,” Douglas Prothero, CEO of Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, stated. “We’re still eager to set sail in the spring, and we appreciate our passengers’ patience and understanding as we negotiate this unique global climate.”

This is the sixth time the fledgling cruise company has pushed back the date of Evrima’s first voyage, which was originally scheduled for January 2024. Due to delays at the Hijos de J. Barreras shipyard in Vigo, Spain, which Ritz-Carlton later acquired, the ship was not finished on schedule.

Since then, several issues seem to have hampered the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection’s entrance into the market, since Evrima’s debut has been pushed back to June 2024, April 2024, and finally November 2024. The firm cited pandemic-related issues as the cause of the delays in each case, but no specifics were provided.

The firm said it was contacting impacted passengers and travel advisers to rearrange their reservations on canceled sailings to an open departure in 2024 or 2024, or to explore compensation alternatives, as part of its latest statement.

Prothero told The Points Guy (TPG), “We are laser-focused on providing guests with a highly customized, state-of-the-art build that will put Evrima in a class of its own, in addition to delivering a guest experience unlike anything else at sea today—blending The Ritz-Carlton brand’s legendary service with unique and distinctive itineraries that are incredibly personalize.” The wait will be well worth it.”
