Royal Caribbean is adding one more ocean to its family-sized cruise ship Quantum of the Seas for the 2017 season. This new sail-away port of call is scheduled to be announced in the coming weeks. Quantum of the Seas will now make a total of nine call-ports in seven different ports around the world this season. Royal Caribbean’s sixth Quantum class ship, Quantum of the Seas is a double-hulled supership that introduced first-class staterooms (with an emphasis on entertainment), a spa, and advanced technology.

Royal Caribbean’s first Quantum-class ship, the Quantum of the Seas, is back in operation after being out of service for more than six months due to an engine-cooling problem. The ship was sent to a dry dock in January for repairs, which launched a spectacular failure that forced the company to cancel 34 cruises, replacing them with seven new sailings on its remaining fleet.

Royal Caribbean has extended the Quantum of the Seas season of cruises for the second year in a row, pushing the ship’s sailing schedule through through March 2017. This is the third time that the Quantum has been extended, following the April 2016 announcement of a 15-day extension through December 2016, followed by a 10-day extension through early January 2017.. The Singapore season for Royal Caribbean International’s “smart ship” Quantum of the Seas has been extended until February 2024.

In December 2024, Quantum commenced trips for the first time. This is the vessel’s third season extension, and it has proved to be a popular holiday destination for Singaporeans this year. Over 82,000 people have traveled safely over 60+ sailings to far, with COVID-19 incidents being rare.

Previously, the ship was planned to spend the summer in Alaska.

“We are delighted to be able to prolong Quantum’s ultimate beach vacation until early next year, giving Singapore residents more time to rest and unwind. Despite the ever-changing conditions, Royal Caribbean continues to provide a great vacation experience,” stated Angie Stephen, managing director, Royal Caribbean International, Asia-Pacific.

“We know Quantum has a lot of admirers in Singapore because of her incredible range of activities, excellent meals, and unrivaled vistas, and there is still a lot of demand for sailings.”

Royal Caribbean has implemented a comprehensive set of health and safety procedures, including pre-departure wellness checks that include PCR testing, contactless embarkation, and improved HVAC filtering systems, to keep guests and crew safe.

The line also said that a vaccination requirement will most likely be implemented in the future months, something that has not been needed on Quantum of the Seas to far. “We anticipate sailing with fully vaccinated crew and vaccinated passengers age 12 and older alongside youngsters who are not yet eligible for vaccinations in the coming months as more Singapore citizens get completely vaccinated,” Stephen added.

Quantum offers three and four-night cruises from Singapore, both of which are cruises to nowhere (i.e., they don’t stop in any ports).

The ship has a RipCord by iFly skydiving simulator, a FlowRider surfing simulator, 18 eateries, and a multi-purpose area where activities like bumper cars and laser tag may be enjoyed.

Quantum of the Seas is presently sailing at 50% capacity, in accordance with new government restrictions.
