California has launched a tool that will help the state comply with the California Immunization Information System (CIVIS) to prevent vaccine-preventable diseases. The digital vaccine verification tool is a new software application developed by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) in collaboration with the California Immunization Coalition. The tool allows insurance companies and employers to track whether children in their care are protected against vaccine-preventable diseases through the CIVIS application.

Like the U.S. Department of Defense, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is also using artificial intelligence to solve some problems. The CDPH launched a new web application to help prevent vaccine fraud, called Digital Vaccine Verification (DVV). It will enable the state to quickly identify fraudulent vaccines and prevent their distribution to eligible children.

The California Departments of Public Health and Technology today introduced the ability for residents to keep digital copies of COVID-19 vaccination records. The COVID-19 digital immunization data portal builds on the state’s existing immunization registry and provides the same information as the paper identification cards issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). ADVERTISEMENT The new portal allows Californians to view and store their own vaccination records, said Amy Tong, the state’s chief information officer, at a news conference. If they want a digital version of the same CDC card instead of a postcard, this is their chance. Current trend California Launches Digital COVID-19 Vaccine Verification Tool To access their vaccination records online, Californians fill out an online form with their name, date of birth and the cell phone number or email address they provided at the time of vaccination, then create a personal four-digit PIN. The system then generates a QR code that is directly linked to the COVID-19 vaccination record. Users can take a screen shot of their digital record, which is displayed on the website, instead of carrying and storing the CDC card. Because let’s face it: The little papers you put in your wallet or toss in a drawer aren’t the ideal form of documentation these days. It’s possible for someone to lose their paper CDC card, and a digital record of the COVID-19 vaccine is a handy backup, state epidemiologist Dr. Erica Pan told reporters. In addition, paper documents are easier to forge, as Lucy Dunn, president and CEO of the Orange County Business Council, noted in an interview with the Associated Press. In light of ongoing concerns about possible discrimination based on one’s vaccination status, California Governor Gavin Newsom said the tool is no – repeat, NO – vaccination record, reports NBC News. To date, New York is the only state to have developed an official application linked to an immunization database called Excelsior Passport that immunized residents can use when they want to confirm their immunization status, for example. B. when participating in very large events. California does not have an application similar to the new web portal, but it serves essentially the same purpose. The concept is similar to the Excelsior Pass introduced by New York City, which allows a resident, in our case California, to get a digital copy of their immunization record, said Rick Clough, California’s chief technology innovator. Although the Golden State’s communities and economy have largely recovered, some pandemic precautions remain in place, including a requirement that all participants in indoor mass events (e.g., concerts, sporting events) provide proof of vaccination or a recent negative test for COVID-19. Despite some Americans’ opposition to the idea of vaccination cards, proof of vaccination is already becoming a requirement to enter other countries. It’s voluntary, personal and secure information that can be put into your smartphone’s digital wallet as easily as a plane boarding pass, Dunn said of California’s new vaccination portal, COVID-19.
