With all the talk surrounding the Norwegian Jade, it’s easy to forget that Norwegian Cruise Line is also preparing its next cruise ship, Norwegian Pride. The Norwegian Pride is on a tight schedule for delivery, and the shipyard has turned the building process into a race for the finish line. The 2015 dry dock (a.k.a. floating dock) for the Pride was scheduled to be complete by June 30. Norwegian Cruise Line has pushed the finish date back to July 11. In order to make it to the deadline, workers have taken advantage of the short time frame and have worked to increase productivity by an estimated 30 percent.
Norwegian Cruise Lines has announced that its newly-constructed cruise ship Norwegian Dawn, which set sail on its first cruise last week will be the first ship to be fitted with a full suite of CNG-burning equipment, thus marking a milestone in the shift towards cleaner burning technologies.
Norwegian Cruise Line announced that Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH), the parent company of the cruise lines Norwegian and Prima, marked its first-ever construction milestone for the design and construction of Norwegian Epic, the largest ship that NCLH has ever built. The milestone marks the beginning of a milestone to be completed by November of this year, which is when Norwegian Epic will go into dry dock for the first time. Norwegian Epic will undergo a series of major retrofitting, including the addition of several new restaurants, in-room mini-bars and a new spa. The addition of these new amenities will significantly enhance Norwegian Epic’s passenger experience.
The building of Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest cruise ship, Norwegian Prima, reached a major milestone. The cruise ship, which has a distinctive straight hull shape that gives her a distinct appearance, was floated out of her drydock at Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, Northern Italy, for the first time.
The artwork for Hull is now complete.
Eamonn Ferrin, vice president of Norwegian Cruise Line’s international operations, and Antonio Quintano, shipyard director Fincantieri, were on hand for the float-out ceremony, which included welding a coin to the ship’s hull.

The float-out marks the completion of all work on the hull, including the hull artwork created by Italian graffiti artist Manuel Di Rita, better known as “Peeta.”
Di Rita is no stranger to large-scale works of art; he became well-known for his spectacular 3D artworks on building facades, in which he used optical illusions to produce breathtaking effects. This may also be observed in the hull design of the Norwegian Prima.

Before the first Project Leonardo Prima class cruise ship is formally delivered to the Cruise Line and begins operations in summer 2024, the interior fittings and guest rooms must be completed:

I’m overjoyed that we’re one step closer to having our guests aboard in less than a year.”

The First Of Several
Norwegian Prima is the first of the Prima class of cruise ships that Norwegian Cruise Line has ordered from Fincantieri. In the following 10 years, six more prima class ships are expected to be delivered.

We are pleased to commemorate not just many months of hard effort, but also the genuine spirit of cooperation that exists between our companies – a relationship that will pave the way for NCL’s Prima Class of ships.”
The Norwegian Cruise Line’s Prima class ships are not the biggest ships in the fleet. The ships are considerably smaller than the Breakaway Plus class ships, which are approximately 22,000 gross tons heavier and measure 965 feet in length, weighing 142,500 gross tons, and carrying 3,215 people.

It is a departure for Norwegian Cruise Line, as the business has selected a ship design that prioritizes passengers, with wide-open areas, beautiful design, and a range of unique activities. More information on the beautiful features aboard Norwegian Prima may be found here.
When Is the Norwegian Prima Set to Set Sail?
From Northern Europe to the North Atlantic and the Caribbean, the Norwegian Prima will be cruising. Norwegian Prima will travel from Amsterdam to Zeebrugge, Belgium, Bergen and Geiranger, Norway, and Akureyri, Isafjordur, and Reykjavik, Iceland, in August 2024, after numerous maiden voyages.

Norwegian Prima will sail from the United Kingdom in September, New York in October, and Miami in November. Galveston and Port Canaveral are two more US departure points.
For the first time, Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest megayacht has been built entirely under its own power, without the use of dry dock. The Norwegian Pearl, the first in a new generation of Norwegian luxury ocean liners, has been in construction for the past nine months, with 2,700 workers from 32 countries building the ship at the yard in Kiel, Germany..
