The largest cruise ship ever built by Royal Caribbean Cruises and Royal Caribbean International is set to set sail this week from its new homeport in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The largest cruise ship in the world, the Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas debuted just last month following a 16-day journey from San Francisco to its new port of call in the Port of Miami, where it will call home for the next five years.

Shortly after 7 a.m. Thursday, Royal Caribbean’s new Quantum ultraship, Odyssey of the Seas, arrived at her new home port in Florida.The ship docked at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, accompanied by a ceremonial water salute.

Departing from Port Everglades, Odyssey of the Seas will sail from the 3rd. July 2024: six- and eight-night cruises in the western and southern Caribbean. Ports of call on the eight-day southern itinerary are Falmouth, Jamaica, Oranjestad, Aruba and Willemstad, Curaçao. Destinations on the six-day Western cruises include Cozumel and Costa Maya in Mexico, and the private island of Perfect Day in CocoCay, Bahamas.
Next month, the first Quantum Ultra-class ship will depart from the United States, while the first Quantum Ultra-class ship, Spectrum of the Seas, will depart from China.

The Quantum Ultra class is an evolution of Royal’s original Quantum class, which includes Quantum of the Seas, Anthem of the Seas and Ovation of the Seas. A special feature of the Quantum and Quantum Ultra classes is the elevated observation pod called the North Star, which allows passengers to hover above the ship for breathtaking views.

Other features of the Quantum and Quantum Ultra classes include the Bionic Bar with robotic arm bartenders, the RipCord by iFly skydive simulator, the Two70 transformable theater with panoramic windows and robotic dance screens, and the SeaPlex indoor activity area with bumper cars, roller skates and a circus school.

Last Friday, the Odyssey of the Seas arrived for the first time in the United States, north of Port Everglades in Port Canaveral.
Recently, the ship was scheduled to depart from Haifa, Israel this summer, marking the first time Royal Caribbean will operate a ship from Israel. But due to the unrest in the region, the cruise line decided not to launch the Odyssey from Israel and instead head to North America for its first Caribbean season.
