In the last few years, the Conrad Bora Bora Award has been so popular that there is now an award waiting list. The reason it is so popular is that hotels are willing to partner with the Conrad Bora Bora Foundation – a non-profit organization that raises money for children’s charities.
Conrad Bora Bora, a small, tropical island about three hours by plane from Tahiti, has become a pretty popular destination for travellers and honeymooners. But that’s not the only reason it’s a great place to visit. Lesser known is that this beautiful island is a host to a stellar list of awards that you can earn while you’re there. To find out how you can rack up these fantastic awards, read on.
The Conrad Bora Bora Award, handed out by Hilton, is a great way to experience the best of the Cook Islands without having to leave the U.S. or fly to Tahiti to stay at a luxury resort. These nights with points start at $39 per night, which is a great deal considering the award night is usually reserved for members of the Forum Club who pay $1,000 per night for a night in the Conrad.. Conrad Bora Bora Award Nights Are Now Available With Hilton Points!
on July 30, 2024 by Gary Leff
Back when Bora Bora Nui was a Starwood resort, I spent my honeymoon there. It’s a lot cheaper to redeem a reward when you’re a Hilton member. However, availability is difficult to come by.
Over Thanksgiving in 2019, I returned to what is now Conrad Bora Bora. I got lucky with a handful of award nights right away, and then spent the next six months watching, day by day, for more nights to add to the trip. I was able to put together what I needed in the end.
For whatever reason, award nights at the Conrad Bora Bora are now available till March 2024. They’re completely cancellable and cost 89,000 Hilton points per night (a fantastic deal). There’s no reason not to plan a vacation if you have Hilton points (as long as you’re vaccinated, which is now a requirement to visit French Polynesia). Transferring American Express points to top up an account is a viable option, but it isn’t a no-brainer.
Most nights, redemption availability is at the normal level, but some weeks in September and October are unavailable for booking. For example, consider August and February:
The greatest part of having all of the rooms available at once is that you can simply redeem for Hilton Honors 5th night free. Stay four nights at 89,000 points per night and get the fifth night free (so 71,200 points per night). When basic rooms cost approximately $875++, that’s like obtaining the room all in for $285 a night, valuing Hilton points at 4/10ths of a penny each.
“Nui” refers to a big island, and Bora Bora is one of them. When I first visited Bora Bora 16 years ago, Nui was the biggest hotel on the island. Since then, they’ve added to it. It’s on the ‘wrong side’ of the island in some respects, since most accommodations don’t have a view of Mt. Otemanu. I was upgraded to overwater villa 105 on my honeymoon, one of the few accommodations with this view, and I was able to book the same room again in 2019.
You’ll be assigned to a land villa as part of a basic room redemption. The rooms are all huge villas, with the location being the most significant difference in most of them. Of course, you may purchase up to an overwater villa.
Breakfast at the resort was excellent, with free access to the buffet thanks to my American Express Platinum card’s Gold status.

The Main Pool’s View
Regular readers of this site are aware that I am not a very talented photographer. I also take pictures using an old phone. Bora Bora’s most striking feature is how stunning its photographs seem. It is just one of the most gorgeous places on the planet.
Even when service is excellent, it is never quite as nice as you anticipate in French Polynesia (for the price of things). You’re in the middle of the ocean, personnel is scarce, and the French have had a strong impact on the local work culture. Requests are sometimes overlooked, and service may be sluggish.
